Daily Poll 1077: What Do You Think of Ireneaus?
Irenaeus was an early church father that lived most of his life during the second century. He was a priest in Lyon and spent much of religious career refuting the heresies of his day. He is considered a doctor of the church and with his connection to Polycarp he is the last person to have a direct connection with the apostles and their initial students. He is believed to have quoted most of the new testament which includes all of the gospels and he is foundational to establishing the historical reliability of the gospels and their authorship.
