Daily Poll 1018: What Do You Think of Friedrich Nietzcshe?
Nietzsche came about centuries after the Renaissance and the ages of reason and enlightenment. His philosophy during the middle and late 19th century is what set the stage for the post modern and nihilistic world that we know live in. The idea of God being dead, the master-slave dynamic and the Uber mensch did inspire Nazism. Nietzsche’s philosophy gave the framework of viewing the world through a purely secular lens and our advances in sciences allowed us to demystify reality enough to make spirituality and religion seem pointless. I don’t think it’s ended well at all and while Nietzsche was intelligent his intellectualism was misplaced.
