Daily Poll 1011: What Do You Think of The Quran?
Islam is unique in that its holy text is claimed to be the final revelation from God or Allah. Muhammad was supposedly given the Quran by the angel Gabriel which Muhammad gave the Quran which he then transmitted orally to his followers. The Quran was only complied after Muhammad’s death when it became obvious that the Quran was deteriorating living in the memories of early Muslims. Due to this multiple versions of the Quran exist and since classical Arabic isn’t perfectly understood by modern scholars makes understanding the Quran difficult. The content of the Quran is also confusing in how its organized unlike the Bible which is broken up into 66 books and has a much more sensical canon. This makes it clear to me that the Quran is as legitimate of a religious text as the Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible. What do you think? Don’t forget to vote on the poll and to comment below!
